This Rio has a network of walkways along the banks a famous river. It is lined by bars, shops and restaurants, it is an important part of the city's urban fabric and a tourist attraction in its own right. Also has amazing XL Margaritas!

Today, the area is an enormously successful special-case pedestrian street, one level down from the automobile street. It winds and loops under bridges as two parallel sidewalks lined with restaurants and shops, connecting the major tourist draws of the area.

Life has taken me on a grand adventure these last few months. The last time I posted on this here blog I was just about to start my internship, I was in the process of putting a house up for sale, and I was looking forward to moving to a new state and starting a new life.

Well long and behold not 3 months later I am:
-almost done with my internship (18 more teaching days)
-sold a house

and bought a new house!

Well I'm back from the Caribbean though I wish I could have just moved to St. Thomas and permanently become a resident. I LOVED IT!
I also really enjoyed Puerto Rico but our excursion to the rainforest took quite a bit of time, which is okay, but I didn't get to enjoy the town as much as I would have liked. Defiantly need to go back and visit again someday and spend some time just chilling out over there on one of the 365 beaches our tour guide told us about.

Now that I have had some nice warm weathers of the Caribbean I'm off to head into the cold for about 10days. I'm headed to Texas for Christmas and then out of the blue I had an idea. I had a few days to play with, why not see what it would cost me to get to Wisconsin to see family. It's only $17 more than what my flight from tx to fl would have been. To get home I was able to use one of my rapid rewards certificates! Woohoo! only its -13 there. Well I guess I'll get to see lots of snow for the first time!! ya!!!!

Wow it's been a while since I last updated the good ole' blog (almost a month), in that time its been a whirlwind of activity. I can't believe in less than 6 days I will be traveling the Caribbean aboard Costa Cruise's Atlantica. Ya! I can't wait!!!

It's nights like this that make me realize I do have control over some things in my life and the other things I just have to let go.... Its hard to say and actually do, but hopefully with time I'll have some more control of those things.... Time will tell I guess..

Made home just in time to avoid rush hr. traffic and a nasty storm. I'm hearing the boom of thunder as I type this from my scrap room. Gosh soooooooooooo much rain today from 3am onward. Luckily my time @ Epcot I only got a few drops on me as we avoided the rain for the most part luckily. I just hit rain for about the first hour of my drive to Epcot and then was clear all the way there, the whole day at Epcot, and all the way home. I'm very thankful for that as I don't like to drive in rain..

Just got home from Epcot's International Food & Wine Festival. It was amazing!!!

My friend Suzanne and I had such a wonderful time.. It was my first outing with my new camera and I must say I am very impressed!!! Will be sticking to Cannon cameras for life, no Nikon's in my future ever again..

A Moving Loss

So with everything being moved from my apartment in Orlando back home to the house I lost one thing.. I should be happy that I only lost one thing, but to me it's kind of sad because it was my whole scrapbook album of our trip to North Carolina in 2004, our first road trip with Maggie as well and we visited Maggie Valley on that trip to...

That's the sad part, I guess the good part is that I have had the pictures reprinted. (thank god I had them backed up on cd's and they are saved on the walgreen's photo website). I also found some of the pages on sb.com (I guess I could try printing them on my big printer. I doubt I will be able to locate each of the papers I used and to recreate exact pages, and yet there are some that I am so upset in losing..

Today I was able to look at them without crying. How lives change in years, I can't believe that was 5 years ago.

If a genie came and gave me three wishes I'd only need one.. Take me back in time to then....

The postcards part seems to live up to its name these last few months. Come to realize it-I was only home for 10days in the month of September. Holy Cow I'm never gone that much...

Here are some pics. from my latest trip to PA in Mid-Sept.

First off got to see some nice fall colors. This is always nice since I don't see any change here in Florida..

Headed down to the strip district (No not what it sounds like, I wondered the first time I heard its name.) Two days in a row right before the G20 Summit and watched many businesses board up windows in preparation for the protesters that were to come and that they did. Felt like being in hurricane season with all the plywood.
Breakfast at Pamela's P&G Dinner. Ahhh heart attach in the making.. I couldn't finish it all...
At the diner, what could be finer?

Heading into Deluca's for breakfast on the strip after watching it on Man vs. Food.. Yummy!!!

Loved the old counter feel!!!

Wholey's Fish market--Lunch to go and cheap I might add.. Smelled AMAZING though I had just eaten breakfast down the street.

Talking about the G20 we sure did see a lot of cops around....from the airport to downtown there were at least 2 cop cars on ever overpass.. Hmm at least you knew we were safe..

Here we saw some road blockage as buses brought in world leaders, didn't catch who was on the bus though.

Saw the Japanese entourage's plane parked for a few days at the airport.

and then saw a ton of police parked and gearing up with shields, tear gass, and sticks while parking at the zoo.. Glad I wasn't downtown...

The Phipps Conservatory in Pgh. had the Frabel glass exhibit and they held the butterfly exhibit that they had a bit longer due to President Obama having numerous activities at the Phipps during the G20 Summit.

Wow just a quick post today as its been a while since I've written on the old blog. I'm sitting here at the airport and in a little less than hr. I will be aboard a nice boeing something or other headed to PA and hopefully some nice fall weather. A change of leaf color would be nice to!

I can't believe the last 6 months have gone by so quickly, wow what a life change. From beginning to the end of this I can officially say that there is light at the end of the long dark tunnel. And it is not a train light that is out to get me... Woohoo for that!!

We made it home yesterday evening from a great vacation..

Almost two weeks of a lot of fun and excitement piled into them including
lots of driving including 7 states, trip to Amish country, lots of chocolate (Hershey,PA), a graduation, a christening, a duck ride, an incline ride, shoefly pie, buggy ride, Beto's Pizza (I don't think regular pizza will ever be good enough again), Primanti Brother's Sandwiches (Yup 2 experiences), up close and personal encounters w/ animals including a kangaroo partial attack. Lots and lots of fun!!!

First I want to thank you all of my friends for the continued support you have all given me in the past few days. It's truly the support that I need after this has all happened.

I'm saddened that "some" think that I would not be the one writing here on my blog as if you look back at older posts I think my Huge post a few days ago sounds so much like me-BECAUSE I wrote it. Look at old posts and you will see that I am the world's worst speller and on my blog I don't tend to do spell check because of the fact that it is my release, my stress relief, and much like a punching bag except that it is words rather than punches...

I'd love to see this put to rest, but I doubt that it will and well that's your way..

So in closing, I'd like to add a photo. My mom loved butterflies and gardening and so on Sunday we went to the Butterfly Encounter @ Lukas Nurseries..

I was looking at this scrapbook paper I've been using from Pink Paislee and it reminded me of falling leaves. As I was looking my grandma was coming back from taking the dog for a walk and I just thought it would be perfect to get some photos of the leaves in the backyard and the Azaleas that are blooming.... The first two froggie cards are done with card packs that I got at Micheal's for a buck.. I simply then took my nestabilities and cut out a little section and then attached the frog in. Both frogs were given to me in a stamped image swap and then I colored them with copics. My favorite new toy hehe!!!

I totally fell in love with this stamp when I found it at Joann's but this is the first time I've actually gotten to use it. I think it fits perfectly with the pink paislee paper.

Bad day today for mom. Very grumpy and spent lots of time resting in bed today. The physical therapist came around 8:30 this morning and I think that just set mom off for a bad day. She's up now but she asked what time it was around 5:30pm and when I told her she just kind of pouted.. I guess she was hoping it was later.

No news on grandma-that will come next week. I'm praying, hoping, crossing my fingers, but amazingly I'm rather calm..

I'm back at my apartment for the weekend getting things together. I spent last night with my friends drinking, eating pizza, and doing a little card making. It was so good to just get out and do something different!

I'm somewhere in the middle between sadness and happiness for the moment. The lever is going each way as the days go by...

I wrote the email to end internship with all that's going on in my life..

My grandma came home from the ER and they did x-rays. They told her to go see her doctor on Monday for the results. This has me worried for the fact that when my mom was diagnosed with cancer they had her go to her doctor to give her the news. I need to be with my grandma on Monday so she has someone to lean on if there is bad news. My mom is recently disabled and gets around in a wheelchair (thus one of my reasoning for not going to graduation as discussed at our meeting). My grandma is 84 and started to have signs of dimension/ Alzheimer's and grandpa is 94 and not all there. I feel like if I continue my internship my attention will not be fully focused on where it needs to be. This of course could be worse depending on what happens on Monday at grandma's doctor.

Even if it is something minor I feel that both my grandparents can no longer take care of my mom for extended periods of time. They might make it a week or so, but I can't come home every weekend without being exhausted going back on Sunday night and going to school on Monday to teach. So I think my best interest would be to withdrawal or drop the internship.

I am not sure if this is possible but I'm wondering if UCF would let me do my internship in the county where my mom lives as I know at our internship meeting they said they placed interns in over 30 counties. Who do you think I should contact in order to find out that information? I don't expect to start the internship now upon moving in the next few months, but rather in August of this year. I know it pushes back graduation and completing my degree, but if I'm there in Orlando and something happens to my family I don't think I could forgive myself especially since I know will have no more time to miss.

A good day indeed because I don't have to go to work (well internship) tomorrow! Ya!
I love MLK! He fought for what he believed in for one thing (most importantly) and secondly the USA decided to honor him in a way that everyone should look at as they enjoy their day off tomorrow, well those that have it off.

I love that fact that MLK day is falling the day before such an historic election of Barrack Obama. It's almost as though we celebrate MLK's dream.

And I realized that my own life wouldn't count for much unless I was able to ensure that you had every opportunity for happiness and fulfillment in yours. In the end, girls, that's why I ran for President: because of what I want for you and for every child in this nation.

I want all our children to go to schools worthy of their potential-schools that challenge them, inspire them, and instill in them a sense of wonder about the world around them. I want them to have the chance to go to college-even if their parents aren't rich. And I want them to get good jobs: jobs that pay well and give them benefits like health care, jobs that let them spend time with their own kids and retire with dignity.

On Thursday as the teacher I am interning with read a book about MLK I realized just how lucky the children in this classroom are. It was amazing to see their reactions when the teacher told them about Jim Crow laws, and segregated schools when she was in school in the county. The students didn't realize the impact MLK made on so many lives, I hope that Barrack Obama will leave a lasting impression on the lives of children like those that are in this class. I still remember sitting in 3rd grade and watching as Bill Clinton was inaugurated. I was in shock and awe as I watched the pomp and pageantry. Now years later I have the honor of telling my future children I watched the first African American President be sworn into office and I can say I had the right and honor to vote for him. Being a history buff I see things becoming full circle..

It's just amazing to see history in action!

I made it thru my first week of internship. Well it was only 4 days and I haven't started the teaching, but lets look on the positive side..

Sadly I am soooo very tired. Yesterday I got home at 4:30 and I laid down to take a nap at 6:30. next time i woke up it was 9:45 and turned around. then at 11 something maggie wanted out for a potty break. came back in and went back to sleep and slept till 9 this morning... Man I guess I needed some sleep huh?

weekends will be for sleeping I assume.

tomorrow I get to hang with my SISTAS and scrap the day away!

Today was such a nice way to spend a day..
Shopping, Coloring, and best of all being with a great friend!

Suzanne and I went into Mount Dora today to go to a stamp store. Of course I found like a million things I wanted including a new spellbinder die! If only I had tomorrow off to play... Then we found out that they had had a class using copic markers. We had missed it but the awesome lady (Pam) that was working at Stamping Station said she'd make a special class for us and we learned all about the copic markers. Even though I've had a few experiences with these amazing markers I didn't know half of what you could do.. We had such a great time playing and coloring! I bought a blender pen that I can't wai to play with.

We made 2 cards as well, will have to scan them later, for now I need to go chill out a bit with the pup!

Getting back to Orlando and the quiet that has become my apartment.
Feeling a bit of loneliness the first night after spending almost a month with people all over!
And then today finally having a weight off my shoulders in finding out my placement for Internship 2. Still a bit of nervousness in waiting to find out what grade I will be teaching. Little relived to find out my coordinator will only be observing me twice and that my supervising teacher will be doing much of the observing. Today they talked about grad school at our internship meeting, the thought seems so out there, heck I just went to get the Bachelors behind me. Though I found a program thru UCF that I think I really like as I was looking around. It's in St.Pete so I wouldn't have to drive to Tampa (TG!!!). Going to think about it. It also doesn't look like I have to have a GRE score for it either. (woooo hooo).. It's a mix of 34hrs of literacy and leadership. We will see, won't be jumping in right away, probably going to wait a bit and get comfy within my classroom before doing it, but it seems so oh I don't know... Like I'm actually going to be a teacher... There is an end to this long windy road...

now I am off to the grocery store to get some grub and what not for dinner. Amazing how I forgot like everything I needed yesterday at Target and still managed to spend a ton... well you know the new pillow racked up the bill.. LOL!!!

This was pup at the vet today... They drugged her silly, but less than last year..

She has been so loopy today, getting up following me around, not wanting to go outside, she did manage to eat a little bit of chicken broth that I put over her kibble but not much else, hardly drank any water, and now just completely out, so sleepy and she looks miserable.. Hope she is feeling better tomorrow..

We are headed out to lunch to celebrate my grandpa's 94th birthday..

I'm starting to get this pit in my stomach as the time comes closer to where I have to leave and go back to Orlando. It's a bunch of nerves in leaving home again, worrying about my mom, worrying about my grandparents helping my mom out, and then thinking about internship as well...

This getting up numerous times during the night, worrying about things, and general overall feeling of cruddy-ness is starting to make me sick... I have a headache almost every night, and an upset stomach as well and I feel soooooooooo nauseated throughout the day. Today my hips started aching along with knees. Probably from lifting mom, but I'm sure it will go away. I'm just hoping the hip pain goes away soon because it's a pain in the butt literaly! LOL!

So tonight while we were watching t.v. the dog was either
a.) cold from sitting on the tile floor
b.) needing to invade the cat's space
c.) trying to rid the house of anything cat..

because she jumped into the cat's bed..

Although this picture doesn't it show it to well-this is a 75lb dog in a bed made for maybe a 10lb. or so animal.. as you can see by the second picture..

CRAZY DOG....but quite a laugh..

And then it was time to do some snuggling with the humans..

I know I've been posting a lot of depressing and down moments lately and I'm very thankful for all that Christmas was BUT why oh why does it have to be my time of the month on Christmas Day????????????

Totally not the most wonderful time of any month or year in my mind.... I've been sick to my stomach all day and now come the lovely cramps. These would also explain why I've been down, moody, and downright grumpy the last few days..

I just had to scrap as right now I want to scream..

Last night was such a wonderful night. For a little bit I was able to forget all that is happening in my life and enjoy the morning. Mom was in a wonderful mood and it was all good. Fast forward to today and grandparents over for leftovers. Mom in a total miserable mood and acting like it. She is so annoyed with my grandparents and my grandma does EVERYTHING for her and she hates it. I decided not to eat and stay in my own little word because well I don't want to deal with everything. I'm sorry but I can't deal with grumpy people...

Frustrated..

I'm really frustrated tonight. I started putting pictures on my grandparent's digital photo frame that we are giving them for Christmas.. I found pictures from 2005 when mom, maggie and I went to Georgia on Vacation. We had such a good time. I wish I could go back in time and start over. I look at my mom now and she can hardly talk, she can't walk on her own, she can hardly stand, and she is miserable. She is in pain when she sleeps because her hip bone throbs if she lays on it to long. She can't lay on her back and she is uncomfortable on her other side. Both her and my grandma are loosing weigh. I wish I could give them a few of my pounds and I could lose some weight..
Grandma use to be 120 and is now down to 97.
Mom not really sure, but I would guess she is in the 115 range, and tonight when I was putting lotion on her back I could see her ribs jutting out. I try to put on a brave face, but inside all I want to do is scream. I don't know what to do. Know come January I have internship and I will hardly be home at all. My grandma can't do many of the things I do to help my mom up. Grandma is also very forgetful and very stubborn. She is really against using the Hoyer Lift that could help get mom up.. Aghhhh just not sure what to do...

All these things are racing through my mind. Is she going to waste away in bed when I am not around. Meaning she is going to get weaker and weaker, to the point when I move home she won't have any power to do anything. Do we have to hire someone when/if I get a job so she is not alone and they can help her? In a year or two will she not be able to get up at all or worse than that? Do we keep the house, or do something different.

I've cried silently as I sat on the computer listening to mom moan in her sleep. Then I want to kick myself at 2am when she calls me to help her move around because as soon as I wake up I think gosh all I want is a good night sleep.

Every night this week I've talked to God before I've gone to bed. I've told that I am thankful for everything he has provided for me and that I am extremely lucky and blessed to have had the opportunities I have had. There are so many things that I would give back if only my mom was feeling better. I already lost one parent at 18, I can't lose my other one just yet.. I feel so lost and scared right now....

That was me back in January of this year.. Did I follow any of those resolutions??? Hmm not as much as I would have liked, but I did follow some... I did walk more, lost 5lbs. in the process-personally though I think it was stress related due to internship.. so the less stress part not so much..

test #3 of the FTCE is over and unofficial I'm not as dumb as I may look. LOL! I unofficially passed. The test gives you 4 hrs and I was done in 2. I actually walked out of the test room and the guy there was like oh are you going to take your break now.. I had a 135 minute test first, a 55 minute break if I wanted it, and then another 90 minutes left for the rest of the test. I told him with a smile no I am done. I kind of felt bad as I was getting my purse from the locker area, because I finished so quickly. I do that though, I don't go back and check every answer. I can't because then I doubt myself.. The language arts and science portions were difficult. The social studies part which I was told was very hard, was not to difficult to me, but a lot of mundane factoids of information. It helps that I'm a history buff at heart. The music part was very tricky and I had to think back to 8th grade music class to generate answers, we didn't learn a darn thing about music in the course I took.. Feel bad for those that didn't take music and don't know what 4/4 time is..

So after I finished I went to the scrapbook store, didn't find much really, and then went to the mall to use my gift card my aunt and uncle got me! Found some great deals!!! Can't wait to wash my new pj's and wear them... If only it would get cold again for them!

Got home to find my mother in a very bad mood. She gets very grumpy after my grandparents are over and it drives me bonkers. I just want to scream like OMG they left, get over it. She's taking a nap right now and I can hear her moaning in her sleep.. It sounds like she is dying and yet I just woke her up to see if she was okay and she's like I'm fine... Freaking me out a bit.

On another note got my school grades--> got 2 A's and a B (reading class where I thought I was getting a C). I got a S in my internship 1 which means satisfactory which is good... so all done with classes now... my final internship does not have a grade attached so my gpa is final.. Not very good really-to much math, economics, and science junk bringing it down.

Home at last, but it feels very stressing...

Tonight we sat down to a dinner of Chilis with the grandparents, mom and my aunt and uncle and cousin. It almost felt like being back in time with family again and remembering stories from the past. It's always good to bring these memories back in the mind of my grandma who is forgetting a lot lately. It's sad how life has changed in the last 7 years... Going from 18 and being totally ready to leave home and go to college, to losing my dad, to moving home, to going to school near home, to moving out and in with my friend, to losing our friendship, to moving into my own apartment, to watching my mom get sick, to now being finished with all my UCF classes and awaiting my internship.. I'm not a big fan of change and the unknown so it's hard for me to be happy the whole college thing is coming to an end but yet I'm happy to as this semester I kept telling myself that I was soooooooooo over school...

The future is so uncertain with my family's health, finding a job, moving home or where ever and trying to figure out how to deal with mom's sickness. It's got me very agitated and upset these last few weeks. It seems like somedays its just better to give up hope. I want to cry and say why? why me? why her? I hate how time is just passing so quickly by....

Downtown Disney

Suzanne and I had such a great time at Downtown Disney. We ate at the Rainforest Cafe before going to see La Nouba! It was an awesome show!

Here's a bit about the show..

So I had to celebrate the end of the worst class EVER! I don't have words to describe my hate of this particular class only to say that the school I go to added it in to the new catalog year to add an extra piece of junk to our load...

One class tonight and I never have to walk into the engineering building again to the god-awful reading class with the teacher that looks like my mom. Now I say looks like my mom-not in any way acts like her.

In fact it would be nice to know where the meeting is actually going to be held. College of Ed. website is still down! booo
